Private Frederick Lynn

 

The family background of this man is not known at present. However based on his stated age and place of birth, he may have been the Frederick Lynn born on 24 July 1899 at Creavery, near Antrim and Randalstown, County Antrim, the last of eight children of farm labourer William Hugh Lynn and his wife Matilda (née McFall). At the time of the 1911 Census he was living at Creavery with his parents and two of his siblings.

Lynn enlisted in the North Irish Horse at Belfast on 1 October 1918 (no regimental number issued). He was described as being 5' 6¼" tall, with a fresh complexion, fair hair and blue eyes, with a scar on his left knee, a mole on his abdomen and three on his neck. He stated that he was 19¼ years old, was born in Randalstown, County Antrim, and that his worked as a labourer.

Lynn was reported to have deserted from Belfast the day after he enlisted. It is not known if he was subsequentially apprehended.
